Kurigram, Bangladesh – June 19 2012 (UNB) – The body of an elderly Imam was found fresh in a river erosion-ravaged grave on Monday, three decades after his burial at Charsitaijhar village at Mogalbasa union in Sadar upazila.
The deceased, Ghughu Munshi alias Basar Uddin Munshi, was the imam (religious leader) of a local mosque. He died of old age complications 32 years ago and was buried at the family graveyard on the compound of his Charsitaijhar village home in the vicinity of the Dharala River in 1980.
Late Ghughu Munsh’s son Hajrat Ali, 60, told UNB that their house along with his father’s grave went into the gorge of the river during an erosion in 2004 and the body of his father was found fresh in the destroyed graveyard.
